My name is Dr. Sakinah O’ Kane, and I’m honored you’re here.
I am the creator of The Journey Within: Soul Care, the founder of Soulfully U Life Coaching, and the heart behind Dr. O’s SereniTea Journal. But before any titles, I am someone who knows what it feels like to be wounded in a place that was supposed to feel safe.
There was a time when walking into church felt like walking into a battlefield.
I loved God deeply. I believed in community. I thought church was where I could confess, heal, and grow without judgment. Instead, I found myself fighting rejection, cliques, competition, and silent exclusion—week after week.

I was devastated.
Disappointed.
Confused.
The pain was so deep it felt physical. But instead of fighting people, God shifted my focus inward.
He showed me that while the hurt was real, the healing had to begin in my soul.
When God Redirected the Fight
I realized I was carrying unprocessed emotions—rejection, disappointment, grief—and I didn’t know how to handle them spiritually or emotionally.
I had a soul issue, not a faith issue.
So I began doing the work:
- Identifying my core beliefs
- Learning how to manage emotions in a godly way
- Understanding healthy relationships
- Applying spiritual principles that discipline the heart, not suppress it
That journey became The Journey Within: Soul Care—a deeper level of healing that goes beyond surface self-care and addresses childhood trauma, past wounds, and present pain that still shapes our lives today.
From Pain to Purpose
What started as my personal healing became my life’s work.
I shared The Journey Within: Soul Care as my doctoral dissertation project. It later led me to serve as Director of the ministry within my church. Over the years, hundreds of people have walked through the eight-week course and experienced:
- Emotional freedom
- Healing from past wounds
- Greater self-awareness
- Spiritual maturity rooted in truth and peace
And that’s why SereniTea Journal exists.
Because healing doesn’t happen in a rush.
It happens when you slow down long enough to listen—to God and to your soul.
An Invitation
