Before You Close Out This Week—How Is Your Heart, Really?
There was a season in my life when I could tell you exactly how my business was doing, how my family was doing, how my ministry was doing, and how everyone around me was feeling.

But if you had asked me how my heart was doing, I probably wouldn’t have known how to answer.
Like many women, I had become skilled at surviving while disconnected from my own emotional and spiritual needs.
I wasn’t broken.
I was simply busy carrying things I had never stopped long enough to acknowledge.
Maybe you can relate.
Maybe you’ve spent this week showing up for everyone else.
Meeting deadlines.
Managing responsibilities.
Supporting family.
Leading teams.
Serving in ministry.
Yet somewhere beneath all the productivity, your heart has been carrying something that still needs attention.
That’s why I’m launching Friday Heart Check-In as a weekly Soul Care community practice.
Every Friday, we’ll pause together before rushing into the weekend and ask a simple but powerful question:
How is your heart, really?
Healing Begins with Honest Acknowledgment
One of the greatest barriers to healing is shame.
Many women believe they should be stronger.
More healed.
Further along.
We tell ourselves:
“I should be over this by now.”
“I don’t have time to deal with this.”
“Other people have it worse.”

But healing doesn’t begin when we pretend we’re okay.
Healing begins when we tell the truth.
The psalmist modeled this beautifully:
“Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.” (Psalm 139:23)
God never asks us to hide our wounds.
This week, we’re opening the door for women to acknowledge their need for healing without shame.
He invites us to bring them to Him.
Not because we’re weak.
But because we’re human.
And because God’s grace meets us where honesty lives.
This Week’s Friday Heart Check Questions
Take a few moments to journal, pray, or simply sit quietly with these questions:
1. What has been weighing on your heart that you need to release?
Sometimes we’re carrying burdens God never asked us to carry alone.
2. Where have you poured out so much for others that you haven’t refueled yourself?
You cannot continuously pour from an empty vessel and expect to thrive.
3. What is one thing your heart is craving more of as you step into next week?
Peace?
Rest?
Joy?
Boundaries?
Connection?
Healing?
Pay attention to what rises to the surface.
A Soul Care Practice for Today
Place your hand over your heart.
Take a deep breath.
Invite God’s presence into this moment.
Ask:
“Lord, what part of my heart needs Your healing touch today?”
Then listen.
No pressure.
No performance.
No striving.
Just presence.
Because healing often begins with awareness.
And awareness creates room for transformation.
Join the Friday Heart Check Community
You don’t have to do heart work alone.
Every Friday, we’ll gather in this space to reflect, heal, grow, and support one another.
Answer one of these questions in the comments.
I will respond to every single one.
Let’s create a community where women can heal out loud, grow in grace, and give themselves permission to thrive.
With love,
Dr. Sakinah
